ASK and the Conditions and Promises

The directive…

The bible is full of promises associated with our asking. God directs us to ASK. Here are just a few examples:

Matthew 7:7 Ask, and it will be given you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.

Matthew 21:22  And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith

John 14:14  if you ask anything in my name, I will do it.

John 15:7 If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you will, and it shall be done for you.

John 15:16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide; so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you.

The conditions…

Did you  notice them? There are conditions, if-then statements to this promise.
IF you believe. IF you have faith. IF you ask in His name.
THEN…

The promise…

THEN… it will be given to you, whatever you ask.

Why? How?

How can such a promise be given? Just ask? Why would that promise be given? Here’s the deal, in that last one you even get a “maybe”. But I think the important part is that we ask with FAITH because in faith we won’t be asking too much in the lines of “out of bounds”. But even then, God has a plan for us and sometimes his “no” is an answer to a bigger yes, one we have not thought of yet.

Seek out in scripture how many times God tells us to “just ask” and make a list of all the conditions he places on that. What did you learn from your take on all this?
