Dear Weary Momma…

It is midday or end of the day or maybe 5 minutes into your day, and it’s tough.
Already. Again.
And you wonder, should I really be doing this? Homeschooling is hard. Parenting is hard. Some days just getting out of bed is hard.
Am I enough?
Looking at those precious little beautiful eyes of your little ones
looking back at you.
Am I enough?
You are enough momma. You are more than enough.
I know this because God does NOT make mistakes and he
put those precious little ones in your care.
Tired, sick, frustrating, pitch yourself on the floor
(just like the little ones) kind of day and all.

I’m going to add more here now… don’t confuse this with a back step.
But, sometimes we all need to refresh, renew, recharge.

Some ideas for doing just that.

  1. Ask for some help.
There is NOTHING wrong with asking for some help.Ask a neighbor kid to come help you clean.
Ask a friend if they would trading child sitting time with you.
Ask a friend to visit with you in the park while the kids play.
  2. Take a break.
Nothing wrong with taking a break for an afternoon.
A weekend away with hubby, occasionally, can do a world of good.
If nothing else just a candy bar in the pantry closet kinda break.
It’s ok to tell the little ones YOU need their nap.
Put them down for that nap and then just sit in the quiet.
  3. Change up your homeschool day.
Have a home ec day. Baking after laundry folding and dishes training.
Make a deal with the kids… do math and reading then you’ll take a break in the afternoon.
Wake up with the intention of taking the whole day off of the regular school work to go for a nature walk.
Look up several activities you can do with the kids that will still allow them to learn but get them out of their seats as well.
Go to a museum, the zoo, or the aquarium. Most cities have “free days” or homeschool days. Find their lists of discounts online some require a group, get your friends to go with you.

Yes, parenting is hard.
Homeschooling is hard.
Some days… getting out of bed is hard.
But you can do it.

Yes, momma, you are enough!

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
Matthew 11:28-30

  1. Thank you so much, I definitely needed this today! On top of having one of my littles home from school today because it’s Friday, I’m also babysitting a freinds little girl, and I’m fighting a cold or something so I’m feeling run down and this advice will help so much. Beautiful reminders. Thank you!
