True confession: I am not a born organizer.
No really, organization is just not my thing.
Anyone who knows me can stop laughing now.
They are laughing because the very thought that anyone might accuse me of being organized is just that hilarious.
I fight tooth and nail for every scrap of organized in my world.
You get to come along for the ride. YAY you!
This weekend I am working on recipes and meal planning.
Why this weekend? Because it’s a three day weekend and Tuesday is our shopping day.
Yes, I do realize I’m pushing it… but if I can do this in three days ANYONE can.
Here is what I’m starting with:
I like pepperplate because I can put in my own recipes, with my quantities, and my notes and it is all at my fingertips regardless of where I am. There are apps for tablets and phones etc.
Pepperplate also has a meal planner included and derives a grocery list based on the recipes you put in your meal plans.
You can “pin” recipes from online sources to pepperplate too.
Pepperplate is hard for me because I tend to be a paper and pen kinda girl. However, I’m determined to get with the program and get digital.
Sticky notes and printed calendar page
I’m tactical, I need to see it. So once I think I have it figured out I pull out my printed calendar page and take a look at the activities I have listed for the month. I then pick dinners that will work with our schedule. I plan to see how this might work with my google calendar but since that also has my husband’s calendar on it (which is good for me to have) I will print a generic calendar page for illustration purposes.
Also, I have not been very good about planning breakfast and lunch – I kinda wing it. I am adding that to our system this weekend.
Google Calendar and Bullet Journal
Redundant, I know. As I said I’m looking to get more digital, but I kinda love my bullet journal because it gives me a creative outlet. By July, I hope to go digital with that too and I will do other things for creativity.
There you have it. My plans, and the beginnings of it, when I’m finished I’ll do another blogpost and link it at the bottom so you have a ‘before and after’ kind of picture.
Questions for today:
What is an area of your life that you want to get organized?
How long have you been wanting to organize that part of your life?
What is holding you back?
Can you break it up into smaller pieces?
For instance, I want to organize my household chores.
That is a huge undertaking. So I broke that down to rooms. Then to immediate tasks.
Hence: Meal Planning
Next: Just do it! Get started on it.
Share your progress.
