I’m on vacation. I am rested…. in a way.
I have been sitting lazily around my son and DIL’s house. It has been wonderful because while I sit lazily here I don’t have my own house (and all that needs to be done there) staring me in the face.
It is restful.
On the other hand, I have stayed up late and had a kink in my back since I got here. The kink has gotten steadily better so that’s good… but in that respect, I’m not very rested.
And so the question goes: is it really a vacation when you need a vacation when you get done with it?
My answer is yes. It isn’t always about getting the most sleep, feeling totally rested, or whatever expectations one might have. It’s about resting your soul. Resting your brain. Resting your routine.
I have definitely rested my routine. I will get back to it, eventually. But it’s nice not to have the same old day all the time.
I have a son at home still… that was not a restful thought. He likes to rest, when he’s not on shift with the fire station or in school training, or with his girlfriend, he likes to rest a lot. He is learning that there is only so much “rest” that is useful. He has gotten so much rest that cleaning the house has become a chosen activity. Frankly, that is probably the most restful thing TO ME. I know I get to go home to a clean house.
The one thing about all of this that is sort of ironic. The company I work with has a product called “Rest”, it is an all natural product that enhances your sleep so that you can wake up rested. Normally, I don’t need this particular product but I had anticipated I might because I wouldn’t be sleeping in my own bed. In the packing, I had forgotten it. So I also planned to order some and have it sent here. Turns out, I don’t really need it… yay me! But it was nice to know I had the option.
So shameless advertising… or not so shameless because I LOVE sharing about these products if you have trouble sleeping and feeling rested in the mornings take a look and see if you’d like a natural alternative to sleep aids. I am so thankful for these products. The last week dealing with a kink in my back has reminded me just how horrible it is to live the way I did before I was introduced to Thrive by Le-Vel.
