TALK, Remember When…

Before kids…

Hubs and I use to lay in bed and talk for hours about winning the lottery, business, how our day was. We talked. Of course, this was when an Epson 256 was a somewhere around $1500.00 desktop computer that had a black and green screen. And AOL was the bee’s knees. Still, life was good.

After kids…

Bedtime was for sleeping. It came early and we grumbled as we woke with a little one had slept across our face, giving us a kink in the neck. And talking was less frequent.

More has changed…

While hubs and I still talk, it’s not the same as before. But looking around at younger people, I ask, do you even talk at all? And it just makes me feel old.
Younger people… like I’m ancient. But I guess I kinda know how “older people” felt about us when we were coming up in the world with our crazy music and our obsession with the black and green screen that screeched at us while we connected with the WWW? What? Yeah, I get it now.

Do yourself a favor this weekend…

Go have a real life, face to face, conversation with someone.  Even if… no especially if… that suggestion was a little uncomfortable for you.

  1. I’m old enough to have lived half my life without a cell phone. Talking face to face- real communication has become a lost art. Thank you for your honesty here. My hubs and I are only 4 years in, but already have 2 babies and communication really does take effort. And time. Precious time.

    1. Marriage, in general, takes great effort, and commitment. Congratulations on your 4 years, prayers and wishes for many more for you.
I’ve been married 32 years this past August. Most days, it seems we are still just getting started. I remind myself we are over half way to the golden anniversary. Thank you for stopping by and giving me a read.
